Hannah Evans is of Welsh, Irish, Grenadian and English descent and was born and raised in Swansea, where she worked as a barber shop Saturday girl. She went on to study French and English Literature at Durham University, and spent a year teaching English in France. After graduating, she worked in PR & Advertising in Cardiff.

Hannah was shortlisted for the 2020 WriteNow programme with Penguin, and took part in Hachette’s Future Bookshelf initiative in the same year. Her debut novel, The Mapmaker’s Wife, was published in May 2024 with Orion and is inspired by the true story of her grandparents’ international love story. Hannah now lives in South Wales and works as a copywriter and communications strategist, alongside fiction writing.
